Mirpur Fire: Investigation Committee Formed to Probe Garment Factory Blaze

Mirpur: A seven-member investigation committee has been established to examine the fire incident that engulfed a garment factory and its adjacent chemical warehouse in Rupnagar, Mirpur. This development comes after the incident occurred on Tuesday.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Loshkar Tajul Islam, will lead the committee. The primary objectives of the committee include determining the cause of the fire, identifying those responsible, assessing the extent of the damage, and providing necessary recommendations. The committee is expected to submit its findings within the next seven working days.



Furthermore, the committee is tasked with submitting a comprehensive report to the ministry. This report will encompass the extent of the damage, a list of the injured and deceased, findings on any negligence during the inspection process, a risk assessment of the factory, and recommendations for risk mitigation and accident prevention measures.



The handout also mentioned financial assistance for the affected families. Each family of the deceased will receive Taka two lakh, while those injured will receive Taka 50,000 from the Bangladesh Labour Welfare Foundation.
