Dhaka: Mehidy Hasan Miraz equaled his senior teammate Shakib Al Hasan in the ICC Test all-rounder rankings after jumping three places. The latest ICC rankings saw both Miraz and Shakib, who last appeared in a Test series against India in September, sit at the third spot now with Indian spinners duo Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin occupying the top two slots respectively. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, since Shakib has no chance to play Test cricket again for Bangladesh, Miraz has the golden opportunity to climb to the top. However, he faces a challenging task with Jadeja leading with 423 rating points. Ashwin holds 290 points, while Miraz has 269 rating points at this moment. Miraz's latest improvement in the rankings came after his performance of 68 runs (23 and 45) and four wickets in two innings of the first cricket Test against West Indies in Antigua. Despite Miraz's efforts, Bangladesh lost that Test by 201 runs. In other ranking updates, Liton Das and Mominul Haque have inched up a slot each to 32nd and 47th positions, respectively, in the batting rankings. Fast bowler Taskin Ahmed's career-best second innings haul of six for 64 has lifted him from 67th to 51st position in the bowler rankings. Meanwhile, India's pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah returned to the top of the ICC Test bowlers rankings after claiming eight wickets in the 295-run win over Australia in the first Test in Perth. This performance propelled him two spots ahead of South Africa's Kagiso Rabada and Australia's Josh Hazlewood, reclaiming his mantle as the top-ranked bowler in Test cricket.
