Dhaka:State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, Mir Shahe Alam, has urged relevant departments and agencies to coordinate efforts to expedite the integration of solar power in government offices and institutions.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Mir Shahe Alam announced plans for field visits to assess the installation of solar power systems across various institutions. This call was made during a meeting at the Rural Development and Cooperatives Division at the Secretariat.
The minister emphasized the necessity of swift implementation of solar power usage and instructed departments to adhere to their action plans, regularly reviewing their implementation progress. The meeting assessed the ongoing activities and progress of the action plans aimed at enhancing solar power usage in government facilities.
Discussions also covered strategies for reducing electricity costs and expanding renewable energy use through solar power. Initiatives were recommended for both Dhaka offices and field-level offices of agencies outside the capital to implement solar power action plans.
The meeting was chaired by Dr. Rafiqul Islam Mohammad, Secretary of the Rural Development and Cooperatives Division. Attendees included Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman, Managing Director of the Small Farmers Development Foundation, and other key officials. Representatives from various departments outside Dhaka joined online, providing updates on their progress.
