Satkhira: A two-year-old girl drowned in a pond at Baruihati village under Tala upazila of the district this morning. The deceased was identified as Maria, daughter of Riazul Sheikh of the village.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, local residents reported that Maria was playing in the courtyard of her home around 7:30 am when she went unnoticed by family members and fell into a pond adjacent to the house. After searching for some time, family members found Maria floating in the pond.
Tala Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abu Bakkar Siddique confirmed the matter.
