Dhaka: A 2-year-old girl drowned in a pond at Sikdarkandi village of Kathalbari union under Shibchar upazila of the district this afternoon. The deceased was Ayesha, daughter of Abu Bakar Howlader of the same area.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the child fell into the pond near the house while playing without the knowledge of the family members and drowned. Later, the girl was rescued and taken to Shibchar Upazila Health Complex where the doctor on duty declared her dead.
Shibchar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Rakibul Islam confirmed the matter.
