Netrokona: A 14-month-old boy tragically drowned in a pond at Barokhapan village of Barakhapan union under Kamlakanda upazila on Monday morning. The young victim was identified as Habibur Rahman Toha, the son of Awlad Mia.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, family and local sources reported that the child's mother was occupied with cooking inside their home when the unfortunate incident occurred. Toha accidentally fell into a pond located next to their house without being noticed by anyone.
The child was later pulled from the pond and immediately taken to Kalmakanda Upazila Health Complex. However, upon arrival, the on-duty doctor, Dr. Suman Pal, declared Toha dead.
Kalmakanda Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Siddique Hossain confirmed the incident, shedding light on the tragic circumstances surrounding the young boy's death.
