Dhaka: The Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment today denied rumours circulating on social and mainstream media claiming that Qatar has stopped issuing visas for Bangladeshi nationals.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the ministry released a statement categorically dismissing the reports as completely false and baseless, confirming that Qatar’s labour market remains open and active for Bangladeshi workers. The statement highlighted that between September 2024 and September 2025, a total of 111,662 Bangladeshi workers had gone to Qatar for employment, increasing the total number of Bangladeshi nationals working there to 425,681.
The ministry suggested that the spread of this misleading information seemed to be a deliberate attempt by certain factions to cause confusion among the public and potentially harm the country’s overseas employment sector. It urged individuals to refrain from believing or propagating such misinformation.
Additionally, the ministry issued a warning against false propaganda concerning so-called “free visas” for employment in Qatar, clarifying that no such visa category exists. It advised all concerned parties to remain vigilant against such deceptive claims.
