Minister for Foreign Affairs, NP Saud, has urged the Non-Resident Nepalis’ Association (NRNA) to hold its general convention as per its statute. Minister Saud urged both the NRNA establishment and the dissenting representatives to act by the statute.
Both sides met with Foreign Minister Saud at ministry on Sunday. “NRNA should make its statute clear if it is not. Activities as per clear statute are indisputable,” he said, adding that the relations between Foreign Ministry and NRNA should be smooth and cordial.
He reminded that the ministry was not for controlling any organization. But, the activities of the organization forwarded in parallel are damaging, Minister Saud reminded the NRNA representatives.
On the occasion, Executive Chairman of NRNA, Dr Badri KC informed that both sides had forged agreement for unity. He reminded that both sides had agreed for unity in the presence of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.
Executive Chair KC, Vice Chair RK Sharma were from the establishment and Binod Kunwar from dissenting group had formed a high level talk team comprising coordinators DB Chhetri and Janaki Gurung. Chhetri and Gurung signed the agreement paper.
As per the information shared before Foreign Minister, agreement was made to hold the 11th general convention in coming October. The general convention will be a unity and collaboration event.
There is a provision that the NRNA needs to receive permission from the Foreign Ministry for statute amendment.
