Dhaka: The National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery (NIBPS) today discharged two more victims of the tragic fighter jet crash at Milestone School and College in Uttara, which has claimed 33 lives and left many others injured. The individuals released from the hospital are Kazi Amjad Saeed, aged 20, and Sabuja, aged 40, an employee of the school. Amjad was involved in rescue operations during the incident.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the NIBPS has now discharged a total of four victims from the facility. Previously, two students of Milestone School, Rafsi Akhter Rafia and Ayan Khan, both aged 12, were discharged on Saturday afternoon. The news was shared by NIBPS Director Professor Dr. Nasir Uddin during a press briefing held at the Emergency Department of the institute.
Currently, 34 burn victims are receiving treatment at the institute, with four in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Among these patients, 28 are children, and four children are critically injured. Nine others are in a less serious condition, while the remaining victims are admitted to various wards within the institute. Six of the injured have suffered burns covering more than 30 percent of their bodies.
In response to media questions, Professor Nasir Uddin stated that unit chiefs are maintaining regular communication with the burn victims, visiting them twice daily. The institute is also providing psychological support to the affected individuals. Plans are in place to discharge additional fire-injured patients in phases throughout the week.
The tragic accident occurred on July 21st when an air force fighter jet crashed into a two-story building of Milestone School and College due to a mechanical fault shortly after take-off, as confirmed by the Health and Family Welfare Ministry.
