Dhaka: Considering passengers’ sufferings, authorities of the metro rail resumed its services on the Motijheel-Shahbagh section at 7:15 pm on Sunday, following a suspension of about seven hours.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the officials of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Ltd (DMTCL) announced the partial resumption of services on the Motijheel-Shahbagh section. The service restoration took place after an unforeseen incident that led to the temporary halt.
The authorities confirmed that services on the Uttara-Agargaon section were restored hours after the accident. An officer from the metro authorities noted that experts were actively working to reinstall the bearing pad of the metro rail at the Farmgate area.
The incident, as reported by the metro rail authorities, occurred around 12:15 pm when a bearing pad, used to prevent vibration during train movement, came loose and fell on a pedestrian at Farmgate station, resulting in the pedestrian’s death on the spot.
