Dhaka: Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today forecasted that light to moderate rain or thunder showers are likely to occur at different parts of the country, including the capital, for the next 24 hours starting from this morning.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the forecast predicts that light to moderate rain or thunder showers with lightning flashes and temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions. Additionally, rain is expected at a few places over the Dhaka division and at one or two places over Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram divisions. Moderately heavy to heavy falls are anticipated at places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions, as stated in the forecast beginning from 9 am.
The meteorological outlook indicates a trough of low pressure extending from West Bengal to the North Bay across the southwestern part of Bangladesh. This atmospheric condition is contributing to the current weather patterns.
The forecast also mentions a possible rise in day temperature by 1-2 degrees Celsius over Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram divisions, while temperatures in other parts of the country are expected to remain nearly unchanged. Night temperatures are likely to remain stable throughout the country.
In terms of temperature readings, the country’s maximum temperature on Sunday was recorded at 34.5 degrees Celsius in Ishurdi, while the minimum temperature today was 21.5 degrees Celsius in Dinajpur. The highest rainfall in the last 24 hours, recorded till 6 am today, was 128 millimeters at Sayedpur.
