Dhaka: Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today forecasted rain in different parts of the country over the next 24 hours, commencing at 9 am. "Light to moderate rain/thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Dhaka, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions and at a few places over Rangpur and Sylhet divisions," said a Met office bulletin issued this morning.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the bulletin also mentioned the possibility of moderately heavy to heavy falls at certain locations across the country. A mild heatwave is currently sweeping over Sylhet division and the districts of Gopalganj, Narayanganj, Bogura, Netrokona, Cumilla, Chandpur, Lakshmipur, Feni, Chattogram, Khulna, Satkhira, and Barishal, although it may abate. Day temperatures are expected to fall slightly, while night temperatures are likely to remain nearly unchanged.
The highest temperature recorded on Saturday was 37 degrees Celsius in Ramgati and Netrokona, with today's minimum temperature being 21.4 degrees Celsius in Narayanganj. In the last 24 hours, up to 06 am today, Narayanganj experienced the highest rainfall at 82 millimeters. The sun is set to set at 5:57 pm today and will rise at 5:47 am tomorrow in Dhaka.
