Dhaka: Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today forecasts that a mild heat wave is sweeping over the north, north-eastern regions, and some parts of the country for the next 24 hours, and it may continue.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the BMD's forecast, beginning from 9 am, states that a mild heat wave is affecting the Rangpur, Rajshahi, and Sylhet divisions, as well as the districts of Tangail, Faridpur, Brahmanbaria, Khulna, Jashore, and Chuadanga. A trough of low pressure lies over West Bengal to Northwest Bay across the southwestern part of Bangladesh. Furthermore, the monsoon is less active over Bangladesh and weak to moderate over the North Bay.
The weather forecast also predicts light to moderate rain or thundershowers with temporary gusty winds likely to occur at a few places over the Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and one or two places over the Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, and Barishal divisions, with moderately heavy falls at some locations.
Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged across the country. The maximum temperature recorded on Thursday was 37.3 degrees Celsius at Rajshahi, while the minimum temperature today was recorded at 23.8 degrees Celsius in Bandarban. Additionally, Koyra recorded the highest rainfall in the last twenty-four hours, measuring 96 millimeters.
