Met Office Forecasts Light to Moderate Rain Over Parts of Country

Dhaka: Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today forecasted light to moderate rain over parts of the country for the next 24 hours beginning this morning. Light to moderate rain or thundershowers with lightning and temporary gusty winds are likely to occur in most areas of Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions and a few places in Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions, the forecast added.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, moderately heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in some parts of Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions. A low-pressure area over the Northwest Bay and adjoining regions has intensified into a well-marked low and is likely to strengthen further. The southwest monsoon has advanced into Barishal, Chattogram, Sylhet, Mymensingh, and the eastern part of the Dhaka division.



Day temperatures across the country may drop by 1-2°C, while night temperatures are expected to decrease slightly. The country’s maximum temperature on Tuesday was recorded at 38.4 degrees Celsius in Sylhet, and the minimum temperature was recorded at 24.4 degrees Celsius in Bandarban. The highest rainfall for the last 24 hours till 6 am today was recorded at 27 millimeters (mm) at Ambagan.
