Met office forecasts light to moderate rain over country

Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places of the country with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions.

“Light to moderate rain/thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna and Barishal divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over Rangpur, Mymensingh,Chattogram and Sylhet divisions”, said a met office forecast for the next 24 hours that begins from 9am today.

The axis of monsoon trough runs through Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across central part of Bangladesh. One of its associated troughs extends to North Bay.

Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and weak to moderate over North Bay.

Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over Dhaka, Rajshahi, Khulna and Barishal divisions and it may fall slightly elsewhere over the country.

Country highest temperature on Saturday was recorded by 36.9 degree celsius at Rajshahi and minimum temperature was recorded by 24.8 degree celsius at Kutubdia. Maximum rainfall for the last twenty-four hours till 6am today was recorded by 22 millimeters (mm) jointly at cumilla and Hatiya.

The sun sets at 06.50pm today and rises at 05.18am tomorrow in the capital.
