Kolkata:Demonstrators in Kolkata submitted a memorandum to the Bangladesh mission, demanding the release of Chinmoy Krishna Das, a spokesperson for the Bangladesh Sammilito Sanatan Jagran Jote and former ISKCON leader, as well as the safety of Hindus in Bangladesh.
According to United News of Bangladesh, around 100 individuals from the Vivekananda Mission Sheba Protishthan and the Nationalist Citizens Party of India participated in a procession. The march began at Sealdah Railway Station and was halted by police near the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission.
Five representatives from the protesters were escorted by police to the Chancery, where officials from the Bangladesh mission, including the Head of Chancery and Second Secretary, received the memorandum. The demonstrators expressed gratitude to Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman for allocating additional funds for Durga Puja and extending the holidays to five days, also wishing him good health.
The group hoped the Bangladesh government would ensure the security of minorities during and after Durga Puja, and sought justice and a prompt release for Chinmoy Krishna Das. The event, organized with prior consent, was conducted peacefully with appropriate security measures coordinated by the Bangladesh Mission and local authorities.
