Dhaka: Seven more children died from measles and similar symptoms in Bangladesh in 24 hours till 8:00am on Thursday, taking the death toll to 439. Of the new deaths, one was confirmed as measles-related while the remaining six were classified as suspected, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
According to United News of Bangladesh, of the suspected deaths, the highest number of four were recorded in Dhaka division. With this, the total number of confirmed deaths from measles has risen to 70 and suspected deaths to 369, it said.
DGHS data reveals that a total of 1,363 suspected measles cases were recorded during the period. The total number of suspected cases has reached 54,419. Besides, 155 new confirmed measles cases were reported in 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed infections to 7,305.
Since March 15, a total of 39,160 suspected measles patients have been hospitalised, of whom 34,968 have recovered.
