Measles Outbreak Claims Four More Lives as Infections Rise

Dhaka: Four more individuals have succumbed to measles in the last 24 hours, as reported by a press release from the control center of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) today. The release highlights the increasing severity of the measles outbreak in the country.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the report reveals that six additional fatalities are suspected to be linked to measles. In the same 24-hour period, 1,268 new suspected cases of measles have been identified nationwide, with 150 cases confirmed through laboratory testing.



The report further details that between March 15 and April 12, there have been 2,639 confirmed measles cases and 15,653 suspected cases. The death toll from confirmed measles cases has reached 28, while 151 fatalities are associated with suspected cases. The Dhaka Division has reported the highest number of suspected cases, with 6,658 infections, of which 1,473 have been confirmed.



The DGHS is actively monitoring the situation, collecting and analyzing data through the Integrated Control Center. Efforts are being made to provide necessary medical care to patients, and the public is advised to remain vigilant.
