Measles Outbreak Claims Four More Children

Dhaka:Four children have died from measles and similar symptoms within a 24-hour period, ending at 800 am on Friday. This has increased the total number of confirmed and suspected measles-related deaths in the country to 1,114 so far this year.

According to United News of Bangladesh, The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) reported that one of the recent deaths has been confirmed as caused by measles, while the other three are suspected cases. With these new figures, the count of suspected measles deaths now stands at 1,012, and the confirmed death toll has reached 102.

In the same 24-hour timeframe, 1,221 new suspected measles cases were identified, raising the cumulative total of such cases to 194,084 nationwide. Additionally, 21 new cases have been confirmed through laboratory testing, bringing the total confirmed measles cases to 21,623.

Since March 15, hospitals across the country have admitted 172,021 patients with suspected measles. Of these, 166,933 patients have recovered, as per the DGHS data.
