Dhaka: The number of measles patients in Chapainawabganj district has seen a decline, with many children recovering and being discharged from the measles isolation corner of the district hospital. Authorities at the 250-bed Chapainawabganj Hospital verified this development today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, hospital data reveals that 16 children were discharged in the last 24 hours, while 12 new patients were admitted during the same timeframe. Previously, the hospital was treating 49 children, and currently, 45 remain under care in the isolation corner dedicated to measles patients.
Since January, the Chapainawabganj District Hospital has treated a total of 1,266 measles patients. Dr. A.K.M. Shahab Uddin, the Civil Surgeon of the hospital, indicated that the situation has been improving recently. Despite the positive trend, Dr. Uddin emphasized that special vaccination programs are ongoing as a precautionary measure.
Special MR (measles-rubella) vaccination drives have been intensified in various upazilas, including Sadar, Shibganj, and Bholahat, to control the outbreak. Health workers are actively visiting homes to ensure children receive measles vaccinations and are highlighting the importance of administering Vitamin A capsules.
Dr. Uddin urged the public to maintain regular vaccination activities and to seek immediate medical advice if any symptoms of measles arise.
