Measles Death Toll Reaches 1,140 as Six More Children Die

According to United News of Bangladesh, six additional children have died from measles and measles-like symptoms within a 24-hour period ending at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday. This increase brings the nation's total number of confirmed and suspected measles-related deaths to 1,140 for the year.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) reported that of the six recent deaths, two were confirmed as measles-related, while the other four were classified as suspected. With these latest figures, confirmed measles deaths have reached 104, and suspected deaths have climbed to 1,036.

During the same period, 1,280 new suspected measles cases were identified, increasing the cumulative national count of suspected cases to 200,293. Additionally, 110 new laboratory-confirmed measles cases were recorded, raising the total number of confirmed infections to 22,020.

Since March 15, the country has hospitalized 177,676 patients with suspected measles, with 170,473 of them having recovered, as per DGHS data.
