Tangail: State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock and Tangail-5 lawmaker Sultan Salauddin Tuku today announced that the government has undertaken comprehensive measures to facilitate seamless travel for those journeying home ahead of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the state minister highlighted that, due to effective management and coordinated initiatives, significant traffic congestion on highways is not anticipated during this festive period. Tuku shared these insights while addressing journalists after inspecting the Dhaka-Tangail-Jamuna Bridge Highway at the Elenga bus stand area this afternoon.
Tuku emphasized that continuous monitoring of highways is in place to ensure that homebound travelers do not face difficulties during the Eid holidays. He reassured that fasting individuals would not be compelled to break their fasts on the road due to traffic delays. He further noted that with the commencement of holidays in the garment sector and other industries, around 40 lakh additional people are expected to traverse this highway starting today.
The state minister also reported that no traffic congestion has been observed on any section of the highway thus far, and traffic flow remains smooth. Law enforcement agencies are actively deployed to maintain this flow, with police maintaining vigilance at critical points. Senior officials are supervising the situation directly, and party activists are assisting police efforts on the roads.
In response to a query about past traffic issues, Tuku acknowledged previous congestion due to mismanagement but assured that the current situation is largely under control because of advance preparations and constant monitoring. Present at the occasion were Rezaul Karim Mallick, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police of Dhaka Range, and Muhammad Shamsul Alam Sarkar, Superintendent of Police of Tangail, among other officials.
