Rajshahi: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have reported the arrest of the mastermind of an inter-district robbery gang from Tanore upazila in Rajshahi district. The individual has been identified as Jasim Uddin Jewel, 33, a resident of Kusharghop village in Sonatala upazila in Bogura.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, on Friday around 8 am, a team from RAB-5 Mollapara camp in Rajshahi conducted a raid at the house of Iyar Uddin in Kochua Namapara village under Tanore and arrested him. During the operation, a pickup truck used in robberies, home-made weapons, various robbery tools, and mobile phones were seized.
Later, a press release from RAB-5 stated that a team from RAB-12 had conducted an operation in the Mokamtala area under Shibganj upazila of Bogura district, arresting four individuals. Subsequently, a raid in Rajshahi led to the arrest of the gang’s mastermind.
RAB reported that the five arrested individuals had long been carrying out robberies across various districts and metropolitan areas of Rajshahi Division using sharp home-made weapons and knives. Jewel, the mastermind, is a notorious robber with multiple cases filed against him in police stations across Bogura, Chapainawabganj, Dinajpur, and Rajshahi districts.
RAB also stated that Jewel has been arrested in a robbery case under Shibganj Police Station in Chapainawabganj district.
