Dhaka:The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) have apprehended Abul Hayad Dipu, a 32-year-old man, in connection with a crude bomb explosion near Gate No. 2 of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in Segunbagicha.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dipu was arrested around 300 pm in Rupganj, Narayanganj, after an operation was carried out with the assistance of information technology and a special team from the Detective Branch (DB).
The incident occurred on September 20, when unidentified individuals detonated a crude bomb on the road east of Gate No. 2 of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy at approximately 145 pm, causing panic in the area. A case was subsequently filed under the Explosives Act at the Ramna Model Police Station.
The investigation led to the identification of Dipu as a suspect with the help of information technology. Further legal proceedings against him are currently underway.
