Chattogram: The maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla, and Payra have been advised to maintain local cautionary signal number three due to the potential impact of squally weather affecting the country's maritime regions.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department issued a maritime warning bulletin stating that a land depression over Tangail and adjacent areas has moved North/Northeastwards, weakening into a land well-marked low over Sherpur and nearby regions. This system is expected to continue moving North/Northeastwards, gradually dissipating through precipitation.
The influence of this weather system has led to deep convection over the North Bay and adjacent coastal areas of Bangladesh, prompting the warning that gusty and squally weather conditions may impact the maritime ports, North Bay, and nearby coastal regions. Consequently, the maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla, and Payra are advised to keep hoisting local cautionary signal number three until further notice. Additionally, all fishing boats and trawlers in the North Bay have been instructed to remain in shelter.
In a separate inland river ports' warning bulletin from the BMD, river ports have been instructed to hoist cautionary signal number one. This is due to anticipated rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary south/south-easterly gusty or squally winds with speeds ranging from 45 to 60 kph over various regions including Rangpur, Dinajpur, Rajshahi, and others. This warning for inland river ports will remain in effect until 9:00 am tomorrow.
