Manikganj: The district administration celebrated Independence and National Day in Manikganj with due respect. The programs commenced with a 31-gun salute early in the morning, followed by the hoisting of the national flag atop all government, semi-government, and private buildings. Floral wreaths were placed at the Martyred Freedom Fighters Memorial (‘Shaheed Muktijoddha Smriti Stambha’) to honor the martyrs of the War of Liberation.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Manwar Hossein Malla was the first to place a floral wreath at the memorial. Superintendent of Police Yasmin Khatun, Zila Parishad Chief Executive Officer Mehedi Hasan, Administrator of Manikganj Municipality Sanjida Jesmin, along with all departmental heads and people from various walks of life, followed in paying their respects.
The day’s events included a reception for the heroic Freedom Fighters, a discussion on the historic Liberation War, and the distribution of prizes. Special prayers were offered at mosques, temples, and other places of worship for the eternal peace of the departed souls of the war martyrs, as well as for the progress and welfare of the nation and its people.
Additionally, the day’s programs featured the provision of improved diets to inmates of hospitals, the local jail, and the Government Shishu Paribar at the Iftar.
