Mymensingh: A 35-year-old man, Farhad Hossain Jony, who was set on fire while sitting in his front yard, has died at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. The incident occurred in Moushadia village, Muktagachha upazila, leaving the community in shock.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the victim's family reported that two individuals unexpectedly arrived at their yard in the Muktagachha municipality area and set Farhad on fire by dousing him with petrol around 10 pm on Wednesday night. Quamrul Islam, the Officer-in-Charge of Muktagachha Police Station, confirmed the sequence of events as described by the family.
Farhad was initially rushed to the Muktagacha Upazila Health Complex before being transferred to Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries on Thursday noon. Farhad resided in a dilapidated house adjacent to the remains of an abandoned royal palace in the area.
Local residents noted that the vicinity of Farhad's house was frequently used as a gathering spot for drug users, and Farhad often attempted to disperse these gatherings. The Officer-in-Charge stated that the incident is under thorough investigation, highlighting the seriousness with which authorities are treating the case.
