Faridpur:A court in Faridpur has sentenced a man to death for the rape of an eight-year-old schoolgirl in 2021. The verdict was delivered by Faridpur District and Sessions Judge Md Abul Bashar Mia.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the convict, identified as 25-year-old Akidul Sheikh of Nauapara village in Alfadanga upazila, was also fined Tk 2 lakh. The incident occurred on June 20, 2021, when Akidul forcibly took the Class III student to a bamboo grove and raped her while she was on her way to school.
The girl managed to reach her school after the assault, and the authorities, noticing her distress, informed her parents. She was subsequently taken to Faridpur Medical College and Hospital for treatment.
The girl's father filed a case with Alfadanga Police Station on June 21, 2021. Following investigations, police submitted a charge sheet against Akidul, leading to the court's verdict.
