Man Sentenced to Death for Killing Wife by Electrocution in Cumilla

Cumilla: A Cumilla court on Tuesday sentenced a man to death for killing his wife by electrocution in 2023. Judge of the Cumilla Additional District and Sessions Judge Court-5, Mohammad Sultan Uddin Prodhan, pronounced the judgment.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the condemned convict, Md Azad, is the son of Kabir Hossain from Bashantapur village in Chauddagram upazila of the district. The prosecution detailed that Azad killed his wife, Tania Begum, a mother of three, by wrapping electrical wires around her hands and feet and electrocuting her over a family dispute on July 27, 2023.

Following the tragic incident, Tania’s mother, Maya Begum, filed a case with Chauddagram Police Station. Police conducted an investigation and subsequently submitted a charge sheet against Azad, leading to his conviction.
