Barishal: A man was killed and several others were injured when a bus plunged into a roadside pond on Barishal-Banaripara road in Gariarpar area of Barishal district on Saturday morning. The deceased was identified as Abdul Malek, 55, of Banaripara upazila.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Rafiqul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Airport Police Station, stated that the accident occurred around 8:30 am. The bus, which was carrying passengers from Pirojpur, lost control over steering while heading to Nathullabad Central Bus Terminal, leading to the tragic incident. Abdul Malek was declared dead on the spot.
Local residents played a crucial role in rescuing several passengers from the submerged bus. The injured passengers were swiftly transported to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College and Hospital for treatment.
