Dhaka: A man who was hacked by rivals at Shantibagh Bhangari Gali under Shahjahanpur police station on Monday night died early Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Sikandar Mia, 32, an auto-rickshaw owner.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Sikandar’s elder brother, Amir Ali, stated that his brother was returning home through Shantibagh Bhangari Gali when three to four individuals, including Md. Hannan and Mamun, surrounded him and attacked him with sharp weapons, leaving him injured. Sikandar was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries around 2:00 am.
Amir mentioned that the attack was the result of previous enmity, though he was unaware of the exact reason behind it. Inspector Md. Faruk, in-charge of the DMCH police camp, reported that the body was kept in the hospital morgue.
