Khaliajuri:A man has been fined Taka 1.5 lakh for illegally extracting sand from the Dhanu River at Asadpur Ghat in Chakuwa union under Khaliajuri upazila.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the fine was imposed by Khaliajuri Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and Executive Magistrate Aliduzzaman, who conducted a mobile court at the location this afternoon. The man was penalized under the relevant law for his illegal activities.
The UNO has stated that such enforcement drives will continue in order to protect the environment and prevent further illegal sand extraction from rivers.
