Man Electrocuted to Death While Fishing in Paikgachha

Paikgachha: A 35-year-old man died after being electrocuted while catching fish at a shrimp enclosure in Paikgachha upazila today. The deceased was identified as Iman Ali Morol, son of Jiba Morol from Gajalia village in the upazila.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the incident occurred around 11:00 am at a fish enclosure owned by Iqbal Kazi in the Kaiya Sachibunia area. Iqbal Kazi reported that Ali was using a net to catch fish when he slipped and grabbed a bamboo pole to steady himself. An electric wire had been hanging from the pole, and as it snapped, Ali was electrocuted in the water.



Ali was immediately rushed to Paikgachha Upazila Health Complex, where an on-duty doctor declared him dead while he was undergoing treatment, Kazi stated. Subsequently, family members took his body home.



Paikgachha Police Station Officer-in-Charge, Golam Kibria, mentioned that the police would investigate the incident and take necessary legal steps accordingly.
