Man Arrested with Gold Bars Worth Over Tk 1 Crore in Chuadanga

Chuadanga: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested a man along with five gold bars worth Tk 1.21 crore from Dugdugi village in Damurhuda upazila of Chuadanga district on Sunday. The arrestee was identified as Md Bappi, 27, son of Abu Siddique of the Darshana area.



According to United News of Bangladesh, a team of BGB-6, acting on a tip-off, positioned themselves at Colonypara in Dugdugi village around 4:30 pm. They signaled a man to stop as he was passing through the area on a motorcycle. The man, however, ignored the order and attempted to flee, prompting the BGB members to chase and arrest him.



Following the arrest, the border guards conducted a search and recovered five gold bars, each weighing 600 grams, from his possession. The market value of the seized gold bars was calculated to be Tk 1,21,38,000.



The confiscated gold bars have been deposited with the treasury officer in Chuadanga for further proceedings.
