Habiganj:A 22-year-old man named Tarek Mia was reportedly murdered by his friend over an iPhone in the Lakhai upazila. Tarek, the son of Marfat Ullah from Chausatpur village in Nabiganj upazila, was found dead in Fulbaria village.

According to United News of Bangladesh, Tarek's friend Sahel, son of Nuruzzaman Mia from the same village, was arrested in connection with the case. Sahel allegedly confessed to killing Tarek by slitting his throat for his iPhone 11 and discarding the body in a pond.

The police recovered Tarek's decomposed body around 8 p.m. on a Tuesday. The two friends had gone to Fulbaria village on October 21 to work as masons at the house of Surur Rahman. Tarek went missing afterward, prompting his family to file a general diary with the Nabiganj Police Station.

The police arrested Sahel with the aid of technology, and he reportedly admitted to the crime. Officer-in-Charge of Lakhai Police Station, Sharif Ahmed, stated that Tarek's body was sent to the morgue of Habiganj Sadar Hospital for an autopsy. The filing of a murder case is currently in progress.
