Chattogram: The Malaysian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Mohd Shuhada Bin Osman, has identified Malaysia as a potential new destination for Bangladeshi medical tourists, highlighting the country's advanced healthcare services. He noted that a significant number of medical tourists from Bangladesh are currently traveling to various countries.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, these remarks were made during a meeting with business leaders from the Chattogram Chamber of Commerce and Industry held at the Conference Hall of the World Trade Center in Agrabad. The meeting was chaired by Chamber Administrator and Additional Divisional Commissioner Mohammad Nurullah Noori.
High Commissioner Osman emphasized the importance of the five agreements signed during Dr. Muhammad Yunus's visit to Malaysia in August, which he believes will enhance bilateral relations. He also pointed out the potential for Bangladesh to earn foreign exchange by producing and processing halal products with proper certification.
Additionally, the High Commissioner spoke about investment opportunities in Chattogram within sectors such as telecommunications, security, healthcare, manufacturing, and energy, attributing this to the region's strategic location. Chamber Administrator Noori also underscored the strong ties between Bangladesh and Malaysia as Muslim-majority countries.
Other speakers at the meeting, including Former President of Chattogram Chamber and Honorary Consul of Thailand, Amir Humayun Mahmud Chowdhury; Former Senior Vice President M. A. Salam; Honorary Consul of Malaysia Mohammad Akhter Parvez; and Former Director of the Chamber Zahirul Islam Chowdhury Alamgir, emphasized the importance of regular trade delegation visits to further strengthen business relationships between the two countries.
