Dhaka: The main Eid-ul-Azha congregation is set to take place at the National Eidgah at 7:30am, with President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman expected to attend.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Administrator Abdus Salam made this announcement during a press briefing on Monday morning after reviewing the preparations at the National Eidgah. Salam confirmed that all necessary arrangements for the congregation have been finalized.
Salam stated that if weather conditions are unfavorable, the venue will shift to the National Mosque Baitul Mukarram at 8:00am. The Eidgah venue has been equipped with four entry points and seven exit points for the convenience of the devotees. A total of 121 prayer rows are being arranged, along with facilities for ablution that can accommodate 140 worshippers simultaneously.
Additional arrangements include air-cooling systems, adequate fans and lighting, and mobile toilets. Salam also urged residents to properly dispose of sacrificial waste to avoid clogging drains and causing waterlogging. He noted that the city corporation has already cleaned drains and roads in preparation for Eid and emphasized the importance of public cooperation to maintain cleanliness.
Furthermore, Salam stated that all city corporation officials and employees will forgo Eid holidays to ensure the city remains clean. They have been assigned specific responsibilities to guarantee a pleasant Eid experience for residents. He expressed optimism that collaborative efforts would contribute to transforming Dhaka into a 'Clean City, Green City.'
