Mahfuzur Takes Solo Lead in Manha’s Castle 28th International Chess Tournament

Dhaka: FIDE Master (FM) Syed Mahfuzur Rahman claimed the solo lead in the points table with a maximum of five points after the fifth round of the Manha’s Castle 28th International Chess Tournament, held at the Bangladesh Chess Federation hall room today.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, FM Md. Sharif Hossain and Awsaf Chowdhury are in the second position, each with 4.5 points. Meanwhile, ten players are sharing the third position with four points. These players include FM Subrota Biswas, Anata Chowdhury, Candidate Master (CM) Md Jamal Uddin, CM Sohel Chowdhury, CM S M Sharon, Afnan Zarif Haque, Siam Chowdhury, Mohammad Shafiqul Islam, Rayan Rashid Mugdho, and Din Mohammad.

In today’s fifth-round matches, FM Syed Mahfuzur Rahman triumphed over CM Md Jamal Uddin, while FM Sharif Hossain and Awsaf Chowdhury ended their match in a draw. Anata Choudhury and Afnan Zarif Haque also split a point. FM Subrota Biswas secured a win against CM Avik Sarker, and Radmin Raha Rajya shared a point with FM Sakline Mostafa Sajid. Other notable results include Siam Chowdhury’s victory over WCM Nusrat Jahan Alo, CM Sohel Chowdhury’s win against Md Moniruzzaman Masud, Muhtady Tajwar Nasheed’s draw with WFM Warsia Khusbu, CM SM Sahron’s defeat of Mukitul Islam Ripon, and Mohammad Sahfiqul Islam’s victory over Md Biddut Sarkar. Additionally, Rayan Rashid Mugdho defeated Md. Hasan, Din Mohammad prevailed against Sk. Rashedul Hasdan, and Afzal Hossain Sacchu won over Monir Ahmed.
