Mahbub Anam Visits Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant in Pabna

Pabna: Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Fakir Mahbub Anam today visited the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant in Pabna. Adviser to the Prime Minister Rehan Asif Asad accompanied him during the visit. The project director guided the minister and the adviser through various installations of the project and provided updates on its progress.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister emphasized the significant role that the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant will play in ensuring the country’s energy security during a meeting with project officials, relevant ministries, and local administration. He highlighted that the advanced technology-based plant, once operational, will boost electricity generation capacity and contribute to sustainable energy management.



The minister stated that the government is committed to expanding the use of modern technology in the power and energy sectors. He urged the authorities to complete the project while maintaining safety and international standards. Adviser Rehan Asif Asad pointed out that large engineering projects often encounter technical challenges and stressed the importance of addressing these issues efficiently through coordinated teamwork to achieve the set goals.



Science and Technology Secretary Md Anwar Hossain described the project as a milestone in Bangladesh’s energy sector. He expressed optimism that electricity from the plant will be added to the national grid within the scheduled timeline. Russian Ambassador Alexander Grigoryevich Khozin acknowledged the Russian Federation’s role as a key partner in Bangladesh’s technological advancement and commended the joint efforts of Bangladeshi engineers and Russian experts in implementing the project.
