Netrakona: A Netrakona court has placed a madrasha teacher on a three-day remand following allegations of rape and impregnation of an 11-year-old girl. Netrakona Senior Judicial Magistrate Mohsina Islam issued the remand order after police presented the teacher, Aman Ullah Sagor, with a request for a seven-day remand.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Tariqul Islam, the officer-in-charge of Madan Police Station and the case’s investigating officer, brought Aman Ullah Sagor before the court at noon. The Rapid Action Battalion had previously apprehended the 30-year-old teacher, who is also the founder of Hazrat Fatema Tuz Zohra Women Quawmi Madrasha, in Gouripur upazila of Mymensingh district on Wednesday.
The case originated from a complaint filed by the girl’s mother at Madan Police Station on April 23. The mother reported that she discovered her daughter’s pregnancy after taking her to a local diagnostic center due to concerns about her health. The victim revealed that on October 2, the madrasha teacher had instructed her to clean the veranda, subsequently forcing her into an abandoned room where he violated her. The teacher allegedly threatened the girl to keep the incident a secret.
The girl, who resides with her grandmother while her mother works as a domestic helper in Sylhet, has seen her case gain attention after the incident went viral on social media. In response to the situation, the accused teacher attempted to evade arrest by going live on Facebook, where he professed his innocence and claimed the allegations were part of a conspiracy.
