Dhaka: Lt. Col. Md. Mahmudul Hasan has taken charge as Director (Operations and Maintenance) of the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD), succeeding Lt. Col. Mohammad Tajul Islam Chowdhury. The official charge handover ceremony took place on March 29, with both officers formally transferring responsibilities.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Lt. Col. Mahmudul Hasan is anticipated to play a significant role in enhancing the country’s fire safety, emergency response, and disaster management operations. Commissioned in the Infantry Corps of the Bangladesh Army, he holds a Master’s degree in Defence Studies from the Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) and is a graduate of the Defence Services Command and Staff College.
Officials have expressed hope that Lt. Col. Mahmudul Hasan’s expertise and leadership will further improve the operational efficiency of the Fire Service and Civil Defence. His appointment is seen as a strategic move to bolster the organization’s capacity in handling emergencies and disasters effectively.
