A Narayanganj court on Sunday sentenced a woman to imprisonment unto death while her lover to death for killing her child in 2018.
The condemned convict is Solaiman, son of Lichu Akanda of Jamalpur district.
The court jailed Bilkis, wife of Naya Hawladar of Galachipa in Patuakhali district, until death in the case.
Narayanganj District and Sessions Judge Umme Saraban Tahura handed down the punishment and fined each Tk 50,000, in default, to suffer six months more rigorous imprisonment.
The court also sentenced each of them to seven years jail under another section of the case and fined them Tk 50,000.
According to the prosecution, a one-year-old child was found dead at Bakery lane at Nandalalpur of Fatulla area on February 14, 2018.
Police filed a case with Fatulla Police against unknown accused. During investigation, police came to know that the child’s mother is involved in the murder.
Later, police arrested Bilkis and following her confessional statement, police arrested Solaiman.
