Dhaka: The government has decided to keep import and export activities running on a limited scale at customs houses and stations across the country during the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr holidays to ensure uninterrupted trade.

According to United News of Bangladesh, an official notice states that customs houses and customs stations will continue to process import and export-related activities from March 17 to March 23, except on the day of Eid. This decision was made following a request from the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA). The association urged the authorities to maintain customs operations during the holiday period to ensure the flow of international trade, especially for the country’s export-oriented industries.

Officials indicated that the decision aims to facilitate smooth trade operations and prevent disruptions in the supply chain during the extended holiday period. The directive instructed the concerned customs authorities to take necessary measures to ensure that import and export-related services remain operational on government and weekly holidays within the specified period.

Maintaining customs services during the holidays is expected to support exporters and importers who need to complete shipment procedures, clear goods, and continue production activities without delay. This move is anticipated to provide relief to exporters by ensuring that cargo handling, documentation, and clearance processes can continue during the Eid holiday period.
