Dhaka: The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecasted light to moderate rain or thundershowers with lightning flashes and temporary gusty winds across several parts of the country over the next 24 hours, starting from 9 am today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the BMD bulletin specifies that regions likely to experience these weather conditions include Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, and Sylhet divisions. Additionally, one or two places within the Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram divisions may also see similar weather, with moderately heavy to heavy rainfall possible in areas of Rangpur, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions.
Meanwhile, a mild heatwave is currently affecting districts such as Dhaka, Tangail, Gopalganj, Rajbari, Sirajganj, Chandpur, Bandarban, Khulna, Satkhira, Bagerhat, Jashore, and Jhenaidah. The weather department indicates that the heatwave may subside in certain areas.
The meteorological report mentions a trough of westerly low pressure extending over West Bengal to the North Bay across the southwestern part of Bangladesh. Consequently, both day and night temperatures are expected to drop slightly across the country.
The maximum temperature recorded on Friday was 37.5 degrees Celsius in Khulna, while the minimum temperature today was 21.0 degrees Celsius in Tangail under Dhaka division and Ishurdin under Rajshahi division. Furthermore, Tarash in the Rajshahi division recorded the highest rainfall over the past 24 hours, measuring 67 millimeters until 6 am today.
