Chattogram: Chattogram Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Aung Sui Pru Marma has highlighted a growing concern, stating that at least one-fourth of the country’s population is currently suffering from high blood pressure. This condition is known to significantly elevate the risk of severe health issues, including heart attacks, strokes, cancer, and even death.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Aung Sui Pru Marma emphasized the importance of lifestyle modifications to combat hypertension. He advocated for a heart-healthy lifestyle, suggesting a balanced diet low in sodium and fat, regular physical activity, maintaining a healthy weight, limiting alcohol consumption, quitting smoking, managing stress, and ensuring adequate sleep.
The remarks were made during Dr. Marma’s address as the chief guest at a discussion organized by the Cardiology Department of Chattogram General Hospital in observance of ‘World High Blood Pressure Day’. The event commenced with a vibrant rally that began and concluded at the hospital premises, traversing through several key streets in the city.
