Liberation War Deputy Chief of Staff AK Khandker Dies

Dhaka: Deputy Chief of Staff of the Bangladesh Liberation War and former Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal AK Khandkar, Bir Uttam, passed away this morning. An Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) release stated that the war hero breathed his last at 10:35 am today due to age-related complications.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, AK Khandkar was born on January 1, 1930, and was 95 at the time of his passing. A significant figure in national history, Khandkar was elected to the Jatiya Sangsad from the Pabna-2 constituency in the 2009 general elections.



Khandkar held a pivotal role in the Liberation War as Deputy Chief of Staff and later served as Bangladesh’s Minister of Planning. His career also included diplomatic assignments as Bangladesh’s High Commissioner to India and Australia.
