Legal Aid Recovers Tk 322.91 Crore for Insolvent Litigants

Dhaka: The National Legal Aid Services Organization (NLASO) has successfully recovered a substantial sum exceeding Taka 321.91 crore in compensation for insolvent litigants, as reported on its official website.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the detailed report spans the period from 2009 to March 2026, revealing that Tk 321,91,60,584 was accumulated through both pre- and post-case legal assistance. A significant portion of this amount, Tk 314,94,48,459, was recovered through 64 district legal aid offices. Additionally, Tk 6,97,11,916 was realized via labour legal aid cells located in Dhaka and Chattogram.



In the same timeframe, a total of 14,37,736 beneficiaries were able to access government-funded legal assistance. Legal aid services are currently provided through a comprehensive network that includes legal aid offices in all 64 districts, the Supreme Court Legal Aid Office, and labour legal aid cells in Dhaka and Chattogram. Furthermore, a national toll-free helpline (16699) is also operational to support this initiative.



The initiative is governed by the Legal Aid Services Act, which is dedicated to ensuring justice accessibility for disadvantaged citizens.
