Dhaka: The Ministry of Land has introduced a mobile application called ‘Bhumi’ to tackle the ongoing issue of document fraud and to provide citizens with easy and secure access to land services, according to a ministry release. The app aims to combat the activities of organized fraud rings that create fake or forged Dakhila, Khatian, and DCR documents, deceiving ordinary citizens. Such activities are deemed punishable under current laws.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the app incorporates QR code technology, similar to those used on Dakhila, Khatian, and DCR documents issued via the land service system at https:/land.gov.bd/bhumi and iOS Link. Citizens are advised to use the QR code verification feature of the ‘Bhumi’ app to scan the codes on these documents and verify the accuracy of the information. It is advised against using any QR scanner other than the ‘Bhumi’ app for this purpose.

In the event of any ambiguity, error, or suspicion of fake or forged documents during QR code verification, citizens are urged to contact the Ministry of Land’s hotline at 16122 immediately. Legal measures will be enacted under existing laws against those involved in the creation or use of fake Dakhila, Khatian, or DCR documents.
