Dhaka: Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Land ASM Saleh Ahmed today emphasized that the digital transformation of land management represents a significant milestone in the nation’s progress. He made this statement while addressing a workshop on the software component of the ‘Establishment of Digital Land Management System (EDLMS)’ project, held at the conference room of the Land Bhaban in the capital, as noted in an official handout.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the senior secretary highlighted that the government launched the EDLMS project to enhance the transparency, accountability, and accessibility of Bangladesh’s land administration and management. The project aims to make land administration more efficient and citizen-friendly by ensuring transparency and accountability in delivering land-related services.

The senior secretary remarked that the technology-driven initiative not only boosts administrative efficiency but also improves public service delivery by making it more effective and transparent. He noted that the project plays a vital role in resolving land-related complexities and offers citizens faster and more accurate services.

He also pointed out that one of the significant advantages of digital land surveying is the precision in measuring and preserving land records. Previously, manual surveys were prone to human errors, irregularities, and forgery. Now, the use of satellite technology and Geographic Information System (GIS) allows for precise determination of land areas and boundaries, significantly reducing ownership-related disputes.

The workshop was presided over by Land Record and Survey Department Director General Md. Saidur Rahman. Dr. Jaeyong Yoo, CEO of Korean company Geomexsoft, attended the event as a special guest. Among others, Dr. Md. Mahmud Hassan, Chairman of the Land Appeal Board, and senior officials of the Ministry of Land were present.
