Dhaka:A clash erupted during an eviction drive in Mirpur, resulting in vehicles being set on fire and vandalized. The incident occurred as officials from the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and police attempted to clear footpaths and roads of illegal encroachments.

According to United News of Bangladesh, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed suggested that a coordination gap among the authorities involved might have led to the violence. He mentioned that a lack of communication between the magistrate, city corporation officials, and police could have contributed to the situation. The minister has ordered an investigation to probe the incident further.

The drive began around 10am, stretching from Mirpur-10 to Mirpur-14. During the operation, tensions escalated when hawkers clashed with DNCC officials and law enforcement. Witnesses reported that a city corporation vehicle was set ablaze, and a police vehicle was damaged. Additionally, several media personnel covering the event were allegedly attacked by the hawkers.
